The Wifely Duty I LOATHE!

It all started with "I Do" three years ago, and in the early days of being a newlywed, blinded by the wonder of marital bliss, I thought I would be the "perfect wife" and make my husbands sandwiches for lunch. It was fine at first, I did it with joy in my heart, serving my husband the way I have been called to do (Titus 2:4)...soon the glamor of doing this wifely duty grew old...quickly! Not a night has gone by in 3 1/2 years that I don't ask him if he's SURE he needs a sandwich in hopes of him saying "Nope, don't need one, I'm having lunch with a customer"(sheer music to my ears).
I have grown to absolutely LOATHE this task! Don't ask why, I know that it is such a simple, menial task, but for some reason I can't stand it! Maybe it's because I know that he could do it just as well himself, but he claims "I can't make one as good as you do!" to which I reply "who can't smear peanut butter on some bread, squirt on some jelly and smack some bread on top?" Then I realize that in the time it takes to have that conversation I could have made his sandwiches for the entire week! So, I have given up trying to get out of it, I'm learning that I don't have to LOVE it, but I love my husband, so I will serve him in this way and I have come to the realization that for the rest of our lives together, I will forever be his sandwich maker...for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, TIL DEATH DO US PART!

Summertime and the living is easy!

I always hated the end of the school year and have always cried on the last day since kindergarten...weird, I know! But after I dried my eyes, and hopped off the bus, I quickly anticipated all the fun and events that would take place over the summer! Things were no different this year! This was my last year working at the school, and although I was sad, and shed many tears, I realized I have A LOT to look forward to this summer!
There are 2 things that one should know about me, I LOVE Summertime and I LOVE the South! And there is NOTHING better than those 2 things together! You could try to convince me otherwise, but i guarantee 'ya it won't work! So many of my childhood memories take place during this glorious time of year, and carry on today! I have compiled a list of some things that are like little blessings to look forward to this Summer!

1. going to the lake!
2. running through a sprinkler (which is not just limited to child's play)
3. WATERMELON!! (yes, this has been a major pregnancy craving)
4. The sun being out later!
5. HOMEMADE icecream, preferably peach
6. going barefoot
7. the Stone Mountain Laser Show
8. lightnin' bugs
9. the smell of sunscreen
10. fried okra and roasted corn on the cob

11. throwing anything and everything on the grill
12. drinking drinks with fruit in them
13. Ice cold Coca-Cola, lemonade, sweet tea, or even better...make a muddy water/Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half sweet tea)
14. the way may husband looks with a tan(ok, that one's just for me)
15. going to Disney World
16. getting a tan...even though I'm not supposed to anymore (Dr's orders)
17. Braves baseball and going to the varsity before!
18. pickin' blueberries
AND... anyone who knows me can easily tell you my FAVORITE things about Summer are The 4th of July and running the Peachtree Road Race! And , yes, I AM planning on walking the 6.2 miles, even in my 9th month...I MUST get my T-shirt!!

And last, but MOST EXCITING of all, I will be welcoming my very own bundle of joy this summer! This summer is sure to be the best of all!

Nesting....

I was going to water our fern planter thingies (one of my chores that Chris is always bugging me to do), and discovered a little bird's nest with a baby bird and some unhatched eggs in it! I kind of marveled at how this momma bird went out to try to find the perfect home for her new family and made sure it would be safe for her babies! She worked diligently to find leaves, and pine straw to create her nest, and a place where she could protect her eggs and then go out to find food for her little ones! I then realized that I have been collecting things to prepare for my baby, but my "nesting" instincts haven't quite kicked in yet, and I'm hoping they will kick in soon, because...I've made a mess and am really not ready for Cooper to see his "nest."

Today I Feel Silly...

One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE children's books is "Today I Feel Silly & Other Moods That Make My Day" by. Jamie Lee Curtis! I have been thinking about that book over the last couple of days as I have been experiencing vast waves of emotions and moods over every little thing! Call it "hormones", "mood-swings", or "pregancy", call it whatever you want, but it is happening to me! I can be laughing hysterically one minute which can turn into sobbing in about 1.2 seconds! UGH! As I was having one of my "moments," Chris looked at me and asked if I was "ok", to which I replied (sobbing)"I DON'T LIKE THE WAY I FEEL!!!"

Little Ms. Indecisive

I was watching I love Lucy a couple of weeks ago (yes, this is my fav. show), and even though I have seen this episode a million times (clip shown above), I thought to myself "That is soooo me!" And that's when I realized the older that I get, the more decisions that need to be made!
Yes, I am that person who CAN'T decide what to order at a restaurant, what colors to paint a room, what movie to see, What flavor icecream I should get...you get my drift! I will change my mind a dozen times, and will inevitably be disappointed with what I ultimately chose. I know that this is annoying to those around me (read: Chris, my husband)!!!
As I prepare for my baby, I am plagued with more decisions than I could possibly imagine! Which stroller? Car seat? Diapers? Bedding? Nursery color? Or how about bottles? If you have ever been to Babies 'R' Us (aka Hell on Earth)you learn VERY quickly that there aren't just 2 choices for a bottle, but more along the lines of TEN to FIFTEEN. We have Avent, Dr. Brow, Born Free, TommeeTippee, playtex, Gerber, Evenflo, Nuk, Sassy, Nuby, Madela, and the list on! It's enough to make a person like me go into cardiac arrest!
The baby's nursery has been my "Everest" I never thought I would see the top of this decision mountain! But, after repainting the room twice, sending back 2 bedding sets, and getting furniture (the price made this decision for me).So, I THINK I have FINALLY made up my mind on what the nursery should look like!! And we have decided on the biggest decision of all, A NAME!!! Cooper James Lee :)

The House Wife Rookie

Thank you for visiting my Blog! I have always said that I would NEVER start a blog because I thought no one in their right mind would want to read anything that I would have to say (no offense to those of you actually reading! I am grateful that you are here) and I wasn't sure what I could possibly have to talk about! Nevertheless, I was inspired by a girlfriend at work when she started up her blog, www.werginznewlyweds.blogspot.com (thanks Lisa!) and thought "What the heck, I'll give it a shot!" If anything, it will be nice to have something to look back on!

I have been married for 3 years now, and have been working as a substitute teacher for the last 5 years, and in 5 days I will officially be a full-time house wife! And even though I have been a wife for a few years, it turns out that I'm not so great at it! If you know me at all you know that I have no idea how much our mortgage is, what we pay in utilities, I haven't seen a paycheck in 3 years, and I've been told what I'm allowed to spend on groceries , but rarely abide by that. I'm not the best at cleaning (at least compared to my anal-retentive husband), and I RARELY cook dinner. With all that being said, I'm committing myself to becoming a better homemaker, and home economist and will become more proactive in our finances in hopes of giving some relief to my husband, who tells people that he is expecting his second child in July (because I am his first).

So,no, you will not find a "coupon mom" here, or some domestic goddess who knows all the things that a seasoned house wife should know, but rather, a "late-bloomer" learning how to be a little more than a House Wife Rookie. Thanks for stopping by!
